GURUGRAM: The department of town and country planning (DTCP) partly demolished 10 newly-constructed residential buildings in DLF-2 for zoning plan violations on Monday.
The enforcement team, during a recent inspection, had observed that the builders had constructed rooms in the stilt parking area and carried out violations in the zoning plan. While seven of the buildings are located in J-Block, the rest are in K-Block.
District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said the balconies and extended parts of these buildings were demolished with the help of earthmovers on Monday, after which the buildings were sealed and the owners were directed to be present at the DTCP office within a week. “The state government has already increased the floor area ratio of residential buildings, but the builders still carried out construction on more area than is permitted,” Batth said.
Sources said the razing of the exterior of the buildings will lead to losses of several lakhs of rupees to the builders, who had spent crores on construction.
The department also carried out a demolition and sealing drive against properties whose owners were found to be involved in illegal commercial activities, unauthorised construction and building norm violations on the stretch between Central Arcade market and Dakshin Marg on Monday.
Assistant town planner Ashish Sharma said an illegal taxi stand was being run near the market and around 10 vends had also come up in the area. A DTCP team razed all the vends and directed the operator of the taxi stand to furnish documents related to permission for operation within 24 hours.
