Gurugram: Don’t take away key road, say residents
GURUGRAM: Residents of several housing societies in sectors 49 and 50 staged a candle light protest on Sunday against the acquisition of 200m stretch connecting Ghasola village to Rosewood City by Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP).
The protest comes after HSVP acquired the stretch to compensate owners whose land was acquired for the construction of Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), the residents said.
The residents pointed out that the road is a common passage for many, including those residing in Southend Block A and B, Rosewood City, Ghasola Village, The Nile, The Lilac among others. AS Majumdar, president of B block, Southend RWA said, “The road was developed on the panchayat land of Ghasola village and was being maintained by the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram(MCG). The acquisition of the portion by the HSVP would disrupt the connectivity in the sectors. For the last one year we have been running from pillar to post but no one is looking into our concerns. Sunday’s protest was our last resort.”
The resident also questioned the layout planning of the allotted plot as they claim that the high pressure PNG gas pipeline passes through the stretch, apart from the water supply pipeline network. “I moved here in 2008 and since then we have been using this link road. We were surprised to know that HSVP has carved out the plot on the road which has been there since ages,” Vishal Talus, general secretary of The Nile RWA.
Meanwhile, Jitender Yadav, HSVP administrator said, “I have already conducted a site inspection with the team. We are studying its legalities. We are in touch with every stakeholder and whatever best is possible will be done.”
