Three years on, road in Sector 90 remains unlit
GURUGRAM: The 3.5km PWD road connecting DLF Regal Gardens in Sector 90 to Pataudi Road has been lying in dark from past three years as the authorities have not installed streetlights on the stretch, say residents.
They say commuting on the stretch gives rise to security concerns too post sunset as the road lies in a dilapidated state with several potholes.
Neeraj Awasthi, a resident of DLF Regal Gardens, said, “Travelling on this stretch is not at all safe as the area becomes pitch dark post sunset. Despite a large number of urban population living in the sector, the authorities have turned a blind eye.”
Residents pointed out that unlit stretch has given rise to petty crimes such as snatching and thefts. This road is crucial for thousands of families living in various housing societies, including DLF Regal Gardens, New Town Heights in Sector 90, Space Privy in Sector 93 and Hayatpur village.
Meanwhile, a senior PWD official said, “The installation of streetlights lies with the local civic body and the process of handover will be soon started.”
