Fire breaks out in building basement, 3 rescued
Gurgaon: A fire broke out in the basement of a residential building in the early hours of Saturday in Shakti Park. According to fire department officials, the basement was being used for storing incense sticks without permission from the authorities.
The department received a call from a resident of the building. A team with fire tenders rushed to the spot. “We managed to rescue three men on the ground floor. No one has been injured in the accident,” said IS Kashyap, the fire officer. When asked about the cause of the fire, he said prima facie it appears there was a short circuit inside the building.
It took the team an hour and a half to control the fire. “Our team was able to douse the fire within a couple of hours from it being reported,” Kashyap added. The department will be conducting a probe about the material stored in the basement of the building and take action if required.
