Orchid Gardens residents and RWA lock horns over parking, access road
Gurgaon: Residents living in the economically weaker section (EWS) apartments of Orchid Garden in Sector 54 have alleged that the RWA has refused entry and parking to their vehicles in the premises. They further said the RWA has illegally constructed a grocery shop, resting room and lavatory for drivers, blocking the approach road to their flats.
Residents said they have filed a complaint with the department of town and country planning (DTCP) on the matter, but to no avail. “We have been constantly harassed by the RWA and senseless rules have been imposed upon us over various issues. We haven't been allowed to park our two-wheelers or four-wheelers inside the society complex. I am a senior citizen with a heart ailment. What will I do in case of an emergency? We have written to DTCP on the matter, but nothing has been done to provide any relief to us so far,” said Rohtash Singh Yadav, a resident.
“Even if we have to carry out some construction or other work at home, they do not allow vehicles to unload materials. We have not seen such practices being followed anywhere in the city,” said another resident.
They also alleged that the RWA has been using the approach road as a temporary badminton court, blocking access to their flats. “There is no end to our suffering as they are dumping construction material and garbage in front of our flats. No facilities such as maintenance, security or garbage collection are being provided by the RWA. We are managing all this on our own,” said Poonam Aggrawal, who lives in the society.
Meanwhile, the RWA has refuted these claims, calling them baseless. “The EWS apartments have been provided with a proper and broad access road with well lit-up areas. There is no permanent structure near the EWS flats and both the temporary sheds are not even remotely close to the access road. No car parking is allotted to the EWS apartments but we have allowed access to their cars for the drop-in facilities. Moreover, no badminton court has been built on the access road and such allegations are baseless,” the RWA said in a statement.
