News: Mayfield residents to block makeshift road on clinic plot-12-08-2021
Gurgaon: Concerned over encroachments on a site earmarked for a dispensary, residents of N Block, Mayfield Gardens, have decided to block an opening connecting the plot to the colony. They have pooled in money and are planning to build a wall to block the makeshift road.
Swati Mittal, one of the residents, said: “Vehicles carrying construction material use the road throughout the day. We have seen several incidents of snatching in the area because people from other places come into our colony. The plot was meant for a dispensary but it is being used as a thoroughfare.”
According to the residents, the entire area, about 1.25 acre, has been encroached upon and despite several complaints, the local authorities have not taken any action.
Dharam Vir Yadav, former RWA president, N Block, Mayfield Gardens, said: “Neither the developer nor the local authority is willing to address the matter, although we have complained to them several times. We have now decided to build a wall to block the passage. The residents have sought police presence for the work to avoid disturbances. A gate had been set up earlier, but it was damaged.”
Ajay Shokeen, the general manager, marketing, Mayfield Gardens projects, said of the 1.25 acre, a small patch of land is disputed.
“The matter is pending with the sessions court for a few years. But the undisputed land has also been encroached upon. We have sought the local authority’s help to get it cleared,” he said.
Meanwhile, RS Batth, district town planner (enforcement), said he had received a representation from the residents. “I will conduct a site inspection within next week to review the matter. We will take action accordingly. Since the land is in the licence area, the responsibility of clearing it lies with the builder. If any support is needed, our department will provide it.”
