News: Illegal ads rampant, recovery certificates issued-17-08-2021
Greater Noida: With dues mounting over the unipole operators and advertising agencies as well as other private establishments, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has asked the Gautam Budh Nagar administration to recover its dues.
Over the past three-and-a-half years, GNIDA has identified 70 establishments and agencies that put hoardings and unipoles across the town without seeking the authority’s permission or without paying for the advertising rights.
A majority of such hoardings were put up to promote real estate projects and educational institutes. During a recent survey, the deputy general manager (electric and maintenance), Salil Yadav managed to identify more than half-a-dozen educational institutes and 19 real estate companies that have illegally installed hoardings and unipoles to publicise their brands.
The authority over the years has issued notices to such establishments and companies and have asked them to pay up the advertising licence fees along with penalty. The total due amount hovers close to Rs 3.07 crore at the moment.
Additional chief executive officer of the authority, Deep Chandra said, “Multiple warnings have been issued to such establishments in the past. We have started serving recovery certificates to them. The administration will be asked to start attaching the properties of establishments who do not pay the penalty amount.”
