News: Who will build road to our society, ask Emerald Hills residents, protest-12-09-2021
Gurgaon: Days after a 43-year-old resident of Emerald Hills in Sector 65 died allegedly due to a delay in the arrival of an ambulance in the absence of proper road connectivity, the residents of the society staged a protest against the developer and the district administration on Saturday.
The residents said the three 24-metre-wide internal sector roads were in the approved layout plan, but not a single one is operational yet. The residents, including women, children and senior citizens, raised slogans against the developer and highlighted the plight of 2,000 families.
The residents claimed that since July 19, when their only access road caved in, they have raised the matter with the DTCP and filed a complaint of CM window. “Despite the inspection on August 3 and directions to the developer to make two roads functional within 30 days, nothing has happened on the ground,” said Rakesh Kaushik, president of EHPOA.
“We had apprised the authorities and the developer before the monsoon about the deteriorating condition of road but no action was taken then,” said Poonam Gupta, vice president of EHPOA.
Emaar India spokesperson said, “The 24-metre-road to the condominium falls under the jurisdiction of local authorities. The matter has been followed up with authorities at various levels. Repeated attempts have been made to repair but such efforts have been stalled by the locals. We await the intervention of authorities in the matter.”
DTP (enforcement) RS Batth said, “Emaar was directed to do the needful. At some points, landowners have stopped the repair work. I will visit the site in a week and will try to resolve the issue”
Badshahpur MLA Rakesh Daultabad said, “The responsibility of the road connectivity lies with the developer as per the law. The road, which caved in, belongs to the landowners and the developer took it on lease. There is a dispute. I was informed by my team that the developer has a project just opposite Emerald Hills and is well-connected through the 24m road. I will ask the department to look into the possibility of providing the access through the project till the matter is resolved.”
