Gurgaon: Parking woes in Sector 29 may ease in two years from now. HSVP has decided to develop two multilevel parking (MLP) facilities in the sector, dotted with restaurants and commercial establishments.
The busy sector already has one MLP near Huda City Centre metro station. The two new facilities, with a total capacity to accommodate 2,500 cars, will come up near IFFCO Chowk metro station and Kingdom of Dreams, respectively, officials have said.
HSVP has invited requests for proposals (RFPs) from private companies before September 30. And the construction of the new MLP lots is expected to start early next year, according to officials.

“The companies can submit their RFP till September 30 and the technical bid is expected to open on October 4,” YM Mehra, chief engineer of HSVP, told TOI on Monday. “HSVP will lease out the land for developing the parking lots for 33 years on an annual rent of Rs 2.5 crore each.”

The MLP lot near KOD is expected to be developed on 2.20 acres of land, with a capacity to accommodate around 1,100 cars. The one near IFFCO Chowk metro station will come up on 2.89 acres of land and will be able to host around 1,450 cars.

The MLP facilities will be a BOT (built, operate and transfer) project. The firms will build the project, pay annual fees to HSVP and operate it for 33 years and on completion of the lease period, the facilities will have to be handed over to the Authority.

“The successful bidders will have to complete the project within 21 months. Parking at the facilities will be chargeable. The private firms can utilise around 30% of the built-up area for commercial purposes — restaurants, shopping malls, showrooms and service centres,” said another HSVP official.

HSVP has constituted an eight-member committee for the scrutiny of tender applications. Chief administrator of HSVP is the chairman of the committee while the superintending engineer is the member secretary.

Administrator of HSVP (Gurgaon), chief controller of finance, chief town planner, chief architect, chief engineer, district attorney are members of the committee. The committee will send its recommendation and the final decision will be taken by Haryana chief minister, who is also the chairman of HSVP.

‘There is a need to increase the designated parking facility in Sector 29 and near IFFCO Chowk metro station in particular. “With the development of the two MLPs, more people will be encouraged to use the metro. Besides, it will also help in easing out the parking problem in Sector 29,” said the official.

These two multi-level MLP facilities would be in addition to those being developed at Sadar Bazar and Kaman Sarai by the MCG.
