News: About 100 villages in Gurugram now declared Lal Dora-free-10-04-2022
Lal Dora means red thread. Lal Dora land refers to population land that does not fall under the purview of the civic bodies, meaning their ownership depends on the one who literally possesses the same.
GURUGRAM: As many as 100 villages in Gurgaon have been declared “Lal Dora-free” and the district administration is going to distribute nearly 20,000 property documents to residents in these villages in the next week. Lal Dora land refers to population land that does not fall under the purview of the civic bodies, meaning their ownership depends on the one who literally possesses the same.
Making villages free from Lal Dora would reduce property disputes and is expected to increase the revenue of the government. Their residents will also be eligible to avail bank loans on property.
Deputy commissioner Nishant Yadav said, “Haryana chief secretary Sanjeev Kaushal directed all districts to distribute property cards to residents of the Lal Dora-free villages. In the next week, 22,000 property cards will be distributed to the residents of 100 villages, which have become free from Lal Dora. The remaining 89 villages are in the process of becoming Lal Dora-free.
Yadav added that the government has started a Survey Village Abadi and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA) scheme to make villages free from Lal Dora.
The property of these villages will get special recognition and residents will get ownership papers. “It will help in checking ownership-related disputes,” he said.
