News: Gurugram: Ban on purchase, sale of properties in Sushant Lok-2-14-06-2022
GURUGRAM: The department of town and country planning (DTCP) has banned the sale and purchase of properties in Sushant Lok-2 as the developer has failed to renew the project’s licences.According to the order issued by DTCP, the developer has been directed to stop any development activities in the colony with immediate effect and install display boards at conspicuous locations of the colony informing the general public not to buy or sell property in the colony on account of the non-renewal of licences.
District town planner (enforcement) RS Batth said the licences of the 290-acre township expired around five years ago, but the realtor hasn’t renewed it yet. “The developer has now been directed to apply for renewal within 15 days, failing which the licences will be cancelled,” he added.
Batth further said the department has also written to the revenue department not to execute any sale deed registration of any property situated in the township and update the revenue records as well. The developer couldn’t be reached for a comment.
As per the norms, an application for renewal of a licence has to be submitted one month before its expiry. The developer has failed to do the needful till date, so the DTCP headquarters has directed the DTP (enforcement) to take action accordingly, said an official.
Another senior official from the department said a total of nine licences were issued to the colony between 1983 and 2004. All of them expired between 1995 and 2019 but the developer hasn’t applied for renewal of any of them.
Deepak Dewan, a resident of Sushant Lok-2, said the department should take action against the developer and not take any step which will cause inconvenience to the residents and other property owners. “The developer has failed to renew licences. It is entirely the company’s fault. Residents shouldn’t be made to suffer for its actions,” he said.
Meanwhile, Palam Vihar, spread across sectors 1, 2 and 3, is facing a similar situation as its licences expired a few years back but the developer didn’t get them renewed.
The DTCP has written to the deputy commissioner to stop execution of sale deeds in the private colony by the revenue department as the developer does not have valid licences as of now.
