News: Illegal colony built in Sultanpur park buffer zone razed-24-07-2023
The department of town and country planning (DTCP) has razed a farmhouse colony that was being built on 20 acres of land in the no-construction area near Sultanpur national park
The enforcement team dismantled the road and sewerage network and boundary wall of the upcoming colony. Apart from this, three more illegal colonies on 11-acre land behind SGT University were demolished and shops, precast boundary walls, road network and other underconstruction structures were razed.
With the deployment of two more district town planners in teh city, the working of the enforcement wing has gained momentum. Not just illegal commercial activities in licensed colonies and illegal construction after getting the occupation certificate (OC), the wing has once again intensified action against illegal colonies.
On Saturday, the enforcement team under district town planner Sumit Malik, carried out the demolition drive on illegal colonies being carved out at six different locations.
Acting on the information of illegal farmhouse colony being carved out near Sultanpur national park, the team reached the spot and dismantled the entire road network, sewerage network and boundary wall of about 200-meter length as the construction was found to be in a noconstruction zone.
The team then took action against three new illegal colonies being carved out behind SGT University. “Five under-construction structures, one shed structure, 400m precast boundary wall, road network and 600m sewer line network were dismantled,” a DTCP official told TOI. Five under-construction shops in Budhera, and a boundary wall was razed by the team.
“Officials in the DTCP team are monitoring the areas and a survey is being carried out continuously. There is full focus to stop carving of new illegal colonies in the city. During the action, we are also constantly appealing to the people not to invest their savings in illegal colonies,” the official said
